THE 17TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE BEAUMARIS
TREE PRESERVATION SOCIETY HELD AT BEAUMARIS
COMMUNITY CENTRE AT 8 PM ON WEDNESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER
1969

Minutes:It was resolved
that minutes of previous meeting be adopted.
Treasurer’s 

Report

The Treasurer,
Mr Scott, reported that the balance of 259-32 dollars as
at 12th November 1965 had decreased to 195-92 as at 24th
September 1969. Income over the period was 38-83 dollars
and expenditure was 102-23 dollars, 70 dollars of which
was the payment of 7 years’ rent for the Gramatan Avenue
Reserve.
 
It was MOVED Mr (Alfred)

Gilford SECONDED Mrs (Patricia) Sinclair that the report be
adopted and this was carried unanimously.

President’s 

Report

The President
reviewed the work of the committee since the last
meeting indicating reasons for some of the reduction in
activity. He suggested courses of action for the coming
year, including preparation of a plan for some tree
planting around the Concourse.
Election of

nominated for the offices shown and, as they accepted,
they were declared elected.

All nominees accepted and as the number
of nominees did not exceed the number of vacancies,
all of the nominees were declared elected, after Mr (John) Iggulden moved
that they be elected and others co-opted as necessary.

CorrespondenceA letter dated
18th. Sept. 1969 was received from the Beaumaris group
of Community Aid Abroad requesting co-operation in their
planned sale of native plants on Sat 25th. October 1969.
Their representative Mr Pat Grutzner was present and
elaborated.
 

Details were: 
No. of plants to be sold: 300-750 

Cost price: 17c ea. 
Selling price: 35c ea. or 3 for 1 doll. 

No. of varieties: 20-30 
No. of CAA helpers: 10 

The plants are to be sold from cars,
station sedans and trailers. The President mentioned
that it was the date of the Federal election. Messrs (William) Leech and (Geoffrey) Goode
offered trailers.

Iggulden MOVED and (Gabrielle)
Johnstone SECONDED that “BTPS co-operate officially
with CAA in its tree-selling operation on 25 Oct
1969”. CARRIED unanimously.
 

Mrs (R.).
Sinclair AGREED to redraft “How to Plant your Tree”
and to ask Mr Grutzner to duplicate 1,000 copies,
surplus copies to revert to BTPS.
 

Mrs (Bea)
Hosking AGREED to have 200-300 copies of “Bare-maris”
for distribution on 25th Oct 1969.
 

Headquarters for the day would be at
the house of Mrs McIntyre, 2 Sunset Avenue, 3193.

was reported that a special sub-committee of Sandringham
Council is to be set up to deal with Beaumaris reserves.
After discussion it was MOVED Mr (John) Iggulden SECONDED
Mrs (Sheila)
Ridland that “A Beaumaris Public Area Sub-committee be
set up and that places needing attention be listed,
priorities suggested and that it be brought to committee
for action.” CARRIED unanimously. The following members
accepted election to the sub-committee Mr (Colin) Macrae
(Convenor), Mrs (Gabrielle)
Johnstone, Messrs (John)
Iggulden and (William)
Leech, their ‘phone nos. being 99-1807, 99-1122, and
99-3431 respectively. The Secretary AGREED to send a
letter to the P & C Assoc. Mr Murrell of the P &
C Assoc. suggested that they might be doing something
similar and that co-operation might be possible.
 

2.    MOVED Mr (Alfred) Gilford,
SECONDED Mr (Charles)
Moore that the annual subscription be 50 cents and
that it cover the year July 1st to June 30th. CARRIED
unanimously.
 

3.    The recent
Beaumaris High School clearing was discussed.
