Minutes:
Resolved that the minutes from the previous meeting be
confirmed. (Hosking/Tarrant) Treasurer’s Report was accepted and is attached. (Hosking,/Halliday)
He reported on the planting of 100 trees and shrubs on the foreshore by the Society to renew areas which had been left to die out. At the Society’s request, Sandringham City Council placed log barriers to protect the grassed area in the car park next to the Beaumaris Yacht Club. The Society gave $15-00 to the Beaumaris Primary School as prize money for an Indigenous Plant Drawing competition. It was reported that the competition was a great success. The Society made application for six significant trees to be registered by the National Trust. The Society was represented by several members at the opening of the Bay Road Sanctuary by the Minister for Conservation, Hon. Vasey Houghton, M.L.C. It was resolved that the President’s report be accepted. (Rendell/Carroll) Mr John Carroll moved a vote of thanks to the President for his help in saving a particular Coast Tea Tree in Mr Carroll’s garden. Office Bearers Geoffrey Goode was nominated and returned as President
unopposed. The President moved a vote of thanks to the retiring Treasurer, Bea Hosking, for all her work during her term of office. He also pointed out that Bea Hosking was the Foundation President of the Society. The next ‘working bee’ at the Gramatan Avenue Heathland Sanctuary is to be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, 1981. Resolved that the subscription for 1982-83 be amended from $2.00 Individual, $3.00 Family, to $3.00 Individual and $5.00 Family. (Tarrant/Halliday) Resolved that the Constitution be amended as
follows: The Society may, by three quarters vote at the Annual General Meeting, elect a person as an Honorary Life Member of the Society provided the name of the candidate has been included in a written notice of the meeting sent to members.” (Tarrant/Hosking) The President spoke on the contribution of Mrs Sheila Ridland, who was the first Treasurer of the Society. He also gave a short address on the work of Mr Bill
