PRESIDENT’S
REPORT
 A copy of the
report
was distributed
and Geoff Goode summarised the main items.

During discussion the following items
were
raised:

Cycle Paths:

Councillors L.Bottomley/J. Moller
expressed,
the following
views:

  • It is not realistic at present to
    reduce the
    width of Beach
    Road.
  • S. C. C. has a policy to locate
    cycle paths
    on the road reserve.
  • It is proving difficult to keep
    the trucks
    off Beach Road.
  • In the next 3-5 years the cycle
    path is only
    recreational.
  • S.C.C. is considering adding a
    treed edge to
    Beach Road.

Public opinions are requested.

Amalgamation of Municipalities

Councillor L. Bottomley considers that
S.C.C.
is potentially
under threat to amalgamate with Brighton/Mordialloc.

Moved that B.C.S. committee examine
amalgamation and perhaps
even oppose it. (L. Bottomley/J. Stewart) Carried
without dissent.

Wind Surfing

Councillor John Moller would like to
see
Watkins Bay used
only for swimming.

Many agreed that the ‘Tea House’ beach
was
ideal for young
children and wind surfing was a problem. It was
suggested that wind
surfing
be restricted to B.Y.C. Beach.

Moved that the B.C.S. committee monitor
wind
surfing.
(Tina Owens/Audrey Todd) Accepted.

Shellfish Regulations

Max Zellman: Department of

Forests and Lands

people aware of these
regulations, and they are being enforced by Fisheries
