PRESIDENT’S
REPORT:
 G. Goode
summarized
his report.
Report received. (J. Moller/A. Heughan)
 

During discussion of report a question
arose
concerning
the difficulty of crossing Beach Road between Dalgetty
Road and Bluff
Road.
J. Moller advised that S.C.C. (Sandringham
City
Council)
requires R.C.A. (Road
Construction
Authority)
approval for all work on
Beach Road.
 

It was moved that a letter be sent to
S.C.C.
from the
meeting, requesting extra pedestrian crossings and/or
islands in the
vicinity
of the Tea House. Carried (A. Heughan/M. Goode)

TREASURER’S
REPORT:
 A copy of the
report
was circulated
at the meeting. It was moved that the report be
accepted. (M. Goode/D.

As there were
no
other nominations,
the present office bearers were re-elected:

GUEST
SPEAKER
G. Goode
introduced
Daintry Fletcher.
She gave a most interesting talk on the local
Heathlands, advising that
many plants were rare in the Metropolitan area, and that
many people
did
not appreciate the value of these reserves. Her talk was
illustrated
with
slides.
GENERAL
BUSINESS
1.  As
David
Charles, our
Federal member, was present, G. Goode asked him the
likelihood of
protection
for the Daintree Area and Shellbourne Bay, both in
Queensland.
 

David Charles was not familiar with the
detail
of these
areas and promised to seek the answers and advise the
Society.
 

2.  G. Goode reminded members of
the
Sandringham
Coast Management Plan and the questionnaire developed
by the S.C.C,
and
said that their comments would be valued and should be
sent direct to
the
S.C.C. and/or the Ministry for Planning and
Environment.
 

3.  G. Goode requested further
items of
concern which
the meeting might wish the Committee to examine.
 

4.  A working bee was organised
for
Sunday, 21 September,
at 10 a.m.
 

No further items were raised, and the
meeting
closed at
10 p.m.
