Discussion of incorporation followed:- 

– It offers legal protection to individuals 

– Costs $55 per annum 

– Constitution will need modernizing 

– Amended constitution costs $80 

– Independent auditors report is required 

– Constitution requires amendment before
incorporation
and a special meeting needed to pass it.
 

Report carried.

After both giving a talk, G.Goode withdrew his
nomination
and V.Ross was elected.

No other nominations; C. Duffy elected. 

G. Goode praised the efforts of the outgoing
V-President,
Laurence Bottomley, for his untiring work. 2nd. J.Hardcastle
 

V. Ross moved that we write formally to
L.Bottomley.

8. SUGGESTIONS OF
ACTION FROM
THE MEETING:
 

R. Allaway Asked the aims of B.C.S. 

G. Goode Answered 7 points 

R. Allway Asked if we are concerned about non
native trees.
 

G. Goode Answered that in the past we have not
been automatic
defenders of non-indigenous trees – not in our constitution.
 

V. Ross Need to rethink the constitution and
thrash out
our new aims and objectives.
 

A. Gibson Has written numerous letters to
Council – is
there any way to change subdivision law?
 

V. Ross Groundswell of opposition throughout
Victoria.
 

K. Fisher Lives in a dual-occupancy dwelling
with a pool
and trees – he has taken other proposals to the 
 

Administrative Appeals Tribunal on the grounds
that it
affects the amenity of the area.
 

V. Ross AAT is becoming a snowball of
agreement.
 

M. Meehan Inappropriate clear felling of
developments
– can architects design new developments?
 

V. Ross Streetscapes are important – suggest
to neighbours
to have a tree planted on nature strip – free service.
 

J. Hardcastle New residents advised on how
tall trees
grow.
 

P. Stanton More street trees planted
especially on new
developments.
 

G. Goode The right sort of trees need to be
planted on
the streetscapes.
 

N. Chaves Ivanhoe, etc. have tree protection
areas – how
can these councils do it? Provide addresses to members for letters to
be
written.
 

M. Meehan Need for Green councillors. 

C. Vaughan Concerns about diseased trees. 

A. Reinhardt Agree to fight at top but we need
to address
at bottom also by making developers and real estate agents aware.
 

P. Stanton Big trees have come down and been
replaced
with nothing.
 

G.Goode P. Weir has advised that in
S.Melbourne there
are posters warning developers of an active residents association.
 

L. Orchard All members to be advised of
meetings by phone.
 

K. Cannon Works/student at Burnley
Horticultural College.
