The

name Beaumaris in
Victoria was suggested
after
Beaumaris in Wales

in 1853 – which was 100 years before BCS Inc.
began – by a Penrose

Nevins Esq.

In Australia, place names have often been
associated with land
speculation
.

Beaumaris in Wales is now a sister
city of the City of Bayside,
Victoria. It is said to have gained its name

from the Norman French words
“beau

mareys
meaning “fair marsh”.

That

last hyperlink also shows good photographs of
Beaumaris Castle,

which

King Edward I
began to build in 1295, without being restrained,

as

our present sovereign
– and some that exercise authority under her – is
somewhat,

by any municipal planning scheme,
or Vegetation
Protection Overlay
controls.
