The Balcombe Park
bushland, Balcombe
Road,
Beaumaris, opposite SandringhamCollege, is the only one of three sites for a 240 m²
concrete skateboard ramp, promoted by a Bayside City Council staff report,
that has a conservation Management
Plan. Some 850 m² of its bushland would have been lost for a ramp and
10 metre buffer around it. Beaumaris Conservation Society Inc. strongly opposed that scheme. Cr Derek Wilson led the
successful move in Council to save Balcombe Park. Clearing a 13
metre bushland swathe to enlarge
the soccer pitch is the new threat.
