* FACTORY VILLAGE PLAN REVIVED: Rydges Journal had, as its cover story, an article on the Dunlop Rubber Company’s plan for Beaumaris. The detailed, zoomable, plan of the proposed Dunlop village on its 180 hectares of central Beaumaris can be accessed here.
AUGUST 1939
*BEAUMARIS ON FRONT PAGE OF MELBOURNE EVENING NEWSPAPER: The plan announced by The Herald newspaper in Melbourne of the Dunlop Rubber Company’s plan for a large factory village on 180 hectares of land it had bought in Beaumaris was stymied a month later by the outbreak of World War II.
