MINUTES OF
THE
GENERAL MEETING
OF THE BEAUMARIS CONSERVATION SOCIETY

HELD AT 28
GRAMATAN
AVENUE
BEAUMARIS AT 8 P.M. ON 23RD JULY 1980

Present: Rod Bryant,
Paul Weir,
Bea Hosking,
Ken Rendell, Jennifer de Kok, Russell Plunkett, and
latterly Geoff
Goode. 

Apologies: Barbara Cook,
Laurence
Bottomley. 

New Member Jennifer de Kok was welcomed. 

 
Ms C. Fooke and friends who applied for membership by
post were
accepted
as family membership. 

The Secretary reported that Councillor L.
Bottomley
had contacted
him urging special consideration to work on the
Gramatan Reserve and
support
be given to conservation candidates at the forthcoming
Council
elections. 

Russell Plunkett, a Concourse trader, explained
changes to the
Concourse
which include alteration from two way to one way
traffic, expanded
(angle)
parking and increased tree planting. 

Bike Path  

It was suggested that if the Beach Road Bike Path is
proceeded
with
that each part of it should be assessed in relation to
the value of the
environment, with a view to reducing its impact. 

Aboriginal Marker  

The meeting supported writing to Sandringham City
Council re
the placement
of an Aboriginal Marker following a report from Ken
Rendell. 

Paul Weir was nominated as a delegate to the Port
Phillip Conservation Council
, seconded by Bea
Hosking. 

Geoff Goode reported to the meeting on the
recommendations of
the Flora
and Fauna Advisory panel. 

It was decided that ‘working bees’ on the Gramatan
Reserve be
deferred
until a copy of the new lease is on hand. Next meeting
is the Annual
General
Meeting. It was suggested that a guest speaker be
invited. The
Secretary
offered to try to interest Graham Pizzey. 

As an alternative it was suggested that all
candidates for the
forthcoming
election for the seat of ISAACS be invited to give
their party’s stance
on conservation. 

Venue to be the small meeting room at the Community
Centre,
Reserve
Road. 

There being no further matters the Chairman declared
the
meeting closed.
